A habit, once begun...

In my teen years, sci-fi was the genre of choice. A growing interest in history and anthropology informed by reading choices in my 20's and 30's. For the last 15 years, or so, my choices have been more eclectic, while leaning toward mysteries. Whatever genre, my fiction preference runs to series where I get to know and love the characters, and share in their adventures (see Elizabeth George, Reginald Hill, William Bernhardt, Jan Burke, Earl Emerson, Linda Barnes, Terry Pratchett...).

This site gives me the opportunity to share with you that which I love best. And, I hope, to discover from you new sources of joy, entertainment, and inspiration. As time permits, I will begin to add essays, reviews and musings on some of my favorite authors and books. And, you will have the opportunity to share thoughts about some of your favorites.

My hope is to have the Book Notes section active by the end of September (2004). When it is, you will see the Book Notes menu link at the top of the page. Click, and enjoy. Update: More than two years later, with very, very little added to the Book Notes section, I find that I no longer feel the impetus to do it. The section may return, or it may not.
